Supposedly there is still a "legal" way.

And far less friendly to thieves!

This incident with Pete should have everyone on heightened awareness. Most of us know who belongs with a particular car or tow rig, but there is always some new faces at this event.
PLEASE, EVERYONE; If you see a car or tow rig leaving and don't know the owner, either stop them and ask a question or take note. And NOT just at the hotel. This could just as easily happen at the track on Friday. I can't imagine any one of us getting upset because someone took the time to "care". This is a big family we have here. Watch out for your 'brothers' and 'sisters'!

Dennis, not only during the SCR, but at any event we attend, at motels, restuarants, etc. Keep an eye on your neighbor's stuff and if something does not look right, check it out.

As per the SCR, we will have security, but I am wondering if we should take it one step forward and help police the event ourselves. I for one would be willing to take a 1-2 hour shift to help police the lot(s).

I'm in for a shift. I never sleep during these events anyway.

Tom, Great idea to take shift patrols. Many amatuer "door slammer" NHRA racers will "circle the wagons" at a given motel and patrol their own overnight.

I will gladly take a shift also and help out with policing the lot.... Let me know.... I think this might be the best idea of all.. I know I would sleep better knowing that a member of the site here is watching my vehicle at night in addition to the security....
