Comics were never stored here, they do have the usual musty routine going from years of storage but were never exposed to the hell that is my home.
The ceiling is a simple sheetrock ceiling with a layer of heavy spackle/putty of some sort over it and a swirl pattern applied over top of it. The ceiling was probably done I would say at least 20 years ago. The condo building itself is over 90 years old. The owner of the condo above me decided to remodel between tenants and among other things decided to install a European toilet that does not match the American piping. Can be done with some modifications by a pro plumber though. He used an unlicensed contractor and needless to say it leaked very badly and two months later still has as slow drip. The initial incident started when I heard a slow drip on the ceiling and notified the super, he said he could not check it right now but let him know if it got worse. Two hours later called him and told him that the leak had gotten far far worse and water was now coming out of the light fixtures. Turned the electric off to the rear of the place and waited and complained and waited, etc. Over 48 hours later they finally got the water shut off but not before I dumped over 40 gallons of water out of buckets into the bath tub. Told the super, condo association and owners all that they need to remove the ceiling immediately and get dryers in there or there will be a mold problem. Two+ months later I have not gotten anyone to do anything more than say they are working on getting an estimate or waiting for insurance, etc. Now it looks like that. I hired an independent inspector to do air samples and came back with black mold. Looking to get everything out before everything we own is contaminated and needs to be abandoned which is why I need the storage space. Thankfully I used to run part of a boiler company where one of my duties was to handle the mold and asbestos issues (contain and coordinate with the re mediators) in regards to PPE and Osha, etc. SO thankfully I started working on minimizing the exposure since day one but it gets worse daily despite my efforts and the stink is getting beyond nasty at this point. |

Contact your local building department and health department and tell them about the mold. I'll bet something gets done then.

Already spoke to them and discussed the situation and the inspector basically said that until he actually is called in he cannot say for sure but he will likely tell us to vacate when he does and then hammer them hard. We are still living with violations that they were told they have 30 days to repair six months ago so hes not happy with the owners or board. This is why the mad rush for getting anything of value out into our storage unit and getting a new place in a hurry. The comics are of no personal value to me and I don't care much about the monetary value as I do not have time to get rid of them individually.

How do you expect the building owner to make any money if he has to fix things? Licensed plumbers? Too expensive. An unlicensed guy is much cheaper. Yeah, move out and stay out of that place.

How do you expect the building owner to make any money if he has to fix things? Licensed plumbers? Too expensive. [/ QUOTE ] I know I am a horrible tenant. I have had several people now ask me about titles, etc. There is a small mountain of titles that I just really can;t name them all, 5 or ten comics no problem, going through 3000+ is another story but this is a general list to give some people an idea. I initially thought of doing the E-Pay routine and list them all individually or in lots but do not have the time and need the room now. There are also a lot of duplicates of titles that I had just gotten in just before I closed. There are also several signed limited edition books (usually two of each) there may be some ashcans (not sure if they are still there), several limited edition dealer only copies, etc. I had started to scan some of them as I was gong to list them 1 at a time on E-Pay but there are just to many and I really do need the room now. I have included a few of the scans. Some of the titles are Amazing Spiderman The Brave and the Bold Our Army at War Detective Comics The Mighty Thor Star Wars Star Trek Batman Brigade Dr. Strange Tales to Astonish Justice League Superman Action Comics Magnus Robot Fighter Spawn Lady Death Rai Harbinger Archie Richy Rich Shadow Kawk Captain America The Avengers Super Duck (1950's) Shadowman The Spectre The Green Lantern Kid Colt Outlaw Strange Tales Tarzan The Twilight Zone Turock Venom Solar Man of the Atom Vertigo Grendel Creatures on the loose Sgt Fury Indian Jones The Incredible Hulk Harbinger James Bond Ren and Stimpy Lobo Ghost Rider The Punisher DareDevil Fantastic Four Avengers X-Men IronMan Wizard Price guides Star Wars Tales of the Jedi If you are interested in learning more feel free to give me a call at 732-682-1392.
