Back when few folks were interested in Yenkos, Donna Mae was gracious enough to attend the very first SCR, not only dressed in pink, but driving all the way from PA in her Pink Corvette, the one with the Marilyn Monroe mural on the hood. Also, attending were Hope Yenko (Don’s wife), and one of Don’s best friends and an occasional co-driver, Ed Lowther. To this day I still laugh out loud when I think of some of the stories Ed told at the banquet. Unfortunately we lost Ed not long after that event. It was a real treat listening to the three of them reminisces about the “good old days”, as they had not spent time together since the early ‘70s.

Still remember that like it was yesterday...hard to believe it was over a decade ago. I have a photo autographed by all 3 (Donna Mae, Hope Yenko, and Ed Lowther) and consider it one of my most precious pieces of memorabilia. Ed's presentation/speech/guest appearance at SCR1 is still the best one ever in my opinion. Wish he was still around.

Cool news!!!

Here's a link to some Donna Mae history/pics..
http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=ht...sa%3DN%26um%3D1

Respectfully paying no attention to the sht w/ Judy & Peggy, is the pic of Donna Mae w/ Mike Summers sitting in his white Yenko delivered '66 L72-B/L88 (yes '66) roadster?.

Jeff Moore in Springfield, Mo. just finished the restoration of the Sprite. Here is the link to his site with the history and photos.

Pete, that is probably the '67 Corvette that matched the '66 L72/M22 car known as the "Best Photo Car." It was a white/teal '67 bbc convert. My good friend owns the '66 Yenko Best Photo Corvette (yes still in race trim) and he several original photos of the two cars together, even recent pictures with Mike Summers standing besides both cars as well. The '67 was a stock car, unlike the '66.

Sorry, you're both wrong. That photo with DMM and Mike Summers in the vette is actually from my collection and it isn't a 66 vette... nor is it a 67. It's a 68/69. Click on the pic to enlarge, even though it's cropped you'll see its definitely not a mid-year vette. I gotta start digging out all my Donna Mae stuff. I'm pscyhed for SCR!

Yep, you guys are right...I clicked, enlarged and looked more carefully at the pic after posting and saw the later console too..
Just always interested in the '66 L88 thing and knowing Summers got one through Yenko it came to mind..
And s rry Donna Mae...I'll admit I enlarged the sht w/ Judy & Peggy too..

So besides the Sprite resto, is DM's Pink 'B' as shown in front of Don's truck above known to exist too?.
