Automobile Dealers are independent businesses. In three decades of working in the dealer business, I have never heard a MFGs rep tell or even ask a dealer to sell a car for over MSRP.

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly!......if your dealer is adding thousands to the price shop around !! There are deals to be had. Dealers with tons of stagnant inventory will risk being axed. |

Here in the Chicago suburbs, our local Chevy dealer has a $7000 markup on a red V6 Camaro that just arrived. I didn't know what made me angrier, the markup sticker, or that ridiculous global warming rating next to the window sticker.
I find it amazing that all the only thing that young designers can come up with today is stealing from the past. We now have a Camaro again, with 1969 styling cues (like the console gauges), a Camaro SS, a 427 Corvette, a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 426 Hemi, a Dodge Charger, a 1968 styled Ford Mustang, Shelby Mustang, etc. Seems like 1968-1970 were the peak years for Musclecars, huh? ![]()

Supply and demand determine car prices and this varies in different parts of the country. I don't fault the dealers for trying to make as much money as possible, after all, that what they are in business for. It's up to the buyer to shop around for the best deal at the current time.

Forget the new Camaro. Take your $30k and buy a nice 1969 Camaro. In 5 years, your 1969 Camaro will still be worth close to the same. How much do you think a 2010 Camaro will be worth in 5 years??
