And on the subject of Hemi Daytona's, I am hoping to find one for our "Class of 69" special display at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals.
Anyone...anyone? Bashton www.mcacn.com |

Steve, I absolutely love those full-size wheelcovers on your yellow Daytona! WOW! [/ QUOTE ] It was an original deluxe 15" wheelcover car. I searched in vain, all over the country for those caps for 2 years. I ended up finding 8 of them at the local "Hub Cap Store" franchise 10 miles from my house when I walked in one day on a whim. They had them listed as 1969 15" Dodge Pickup Truck hubcaps (which is actually one of the other applications besides the 1969 HEMI B-Body Dodges) ![]() |

I bought the yellow project from Otis Chandler in 1989 while he was redoing his T5 Bronze 4 speed car and he had decided against redoing the yellow car. (Could this be Les's current car?)
I restored it and then sold it to a guy in PA in 1995 (unfortunately, for a huge loss at the bottom of the first muscle car mania). I was changing jobs at the time and needed the funding. I also sold the orange 71 hemi sunroof Charger at that time. The Daytona sold at an auction in Florida several years ago and a couple of owners later (at the height of the recent muscle car mania) for $630k. The Daytona did not have it's original block. This was the car that I got the engine for my 70 Charger R/T-SE out of. That engine was 21 digits away from the R/T-SE's blown motor and was from the very next hemi car built about 2 hours after my car on December 8 1969. The mid 1969 dated block in the R/T-SE was swapped into the Daytona. Here's a shot of that weird cloth insert interior. Not too comfortable but pretty interesting. ![]() And the engine compartment: ![]() |
