Man that's crazy!!

I was at the Chicago auto show and they were pushing the Camaro like you wouldn't believe. They had a crowd around the displays which was impressive.

Guess it's another example of the politicians (Both corporate and government) not understanding what moves cars.

I did notice a big big push on Hybrids.

The SS Camaro was already designed etc. It is probably going to be built.

This has been confirmed. All the engineering work for the possible return of the Z/28 has also been completed. It's when it's time for performance tweaking that things won't change. Anyone who wants the greatest Corvette ever built should be picking up a ZR-1 because your not going to be getting anything better than that for the next 10 years minimum (that is if GM is even around much longer).

Reporting on the topic must be incomplete at this time since what you are saying is that the "death" of GMPP would apply to future products then?? I wonder what year then??

Correct! I was there to. I'm not particularly a fan of the new Camaro. But the busiest area of the entire auto show was by the Camaro. It was like a rock concert, no lie.

I understand that the Fed kinda has GM by the short & curlys here, but I think it's lost on a lot of folks in management exactly how influential a performance model can be on future same-brand purchases. A perfect example is a local friend of mine here...he knew of strictly nothing other than Chevrolet his entire life, as his family bought & drove nothing new GM's, until he became disenchanted with the lack of development by GM on the F-bodies [he'd owned several over the years], but FoMoCo was still cranking them out year after year, so he decided to try a Mustang...well, not long after that, guess what he got for his wife...yep, a crew cab Ford truck. He completely jumped ship, all because of simple continued support for their *affordable* peformance model...and it's trickled over into his family as well...all because of a single purchase [or lack thereof].

I know what you mean. People do become brand loyal. While owning a CNC Machine shop years back I visited another shop back east. The owner had at least 50 CNC's all the same manufacturer. I asked him about it and he said that he used to own brand "x" but when something came up he did not like he sold them all off and bought all new of the other manufactures machines. Come to think of it he was doing business for the big 3. I wonder if he is still in business??
