A pry bar might work good to get them in, but how are you going to remove them if you need to. I'm glad mine weren't put in that way.
A friend had the same problem with his Chevelle. When I stopped over to help, his looked just like your picture. It turned out he had the wrong motor mounts. They look similar, but BBC motor mounts are slightly different than SBC motor mounts. He swapped them out, and it went right in. Good Luck Gary
