Remember what Lincoln told the photographer who took his portrait now used on the $5.00 dollar bill. When asked about taking it from a more favorable angle, Lincoln said he wanted his picture taken "with warts and all".
He wanted his life to be seen as it really was. He was truly a great American.  This phrase then became a part of the lexicon used still today.
