Maybe a picture will help... And it appears there are holes/provisions for cooler lines but they were plugged off when this was in the car. Still curious what this is for... Thanks, Charlie

I think it might be what was called a torque drive. Basicaly a manual shifted , air cooled power glide. Most were for 4, or 6 cyl applications. Maybe some low hp v8s.

It's been a while, but I thought the holes were round in air cooled PG in early 60's

do those rectanguler holes look home cut? Is the trans cast (pre 1960) or aluminum?

Rectangular holes appear to be factory cast and not cut after. The case is aluminum and it has Powerglide cast into it......
Is there a spot on the case that will have some casting dates or numbers for me to check out? (I'm not that ambitious to clean the whole case looking for numbers).
