How about having it 2 weeks earlier due to Thanksgiving plans and more important nasty weather, traveling with a trailer and important cargo. It has not been fun the last 2 years.

Curious how Bob would use the ALL the square footage at Donald Stephens center, IF show was opened to ALL brands of Classic American muscle.
Given how the show has so many misc Corvettes, taking up ??? percent of the floor.....and then the misc Chevy brands. The swap meet vendors take up the rest. How do you propose cutting back on Vettes and Chevys to accomodate everybody else????????

I opened the door to this by requiring photos with the entries, which the previous owners never did. With each show, I was able to "raise the bar" by turning away entries that had been in the show multiple times and also returning sub-par entrants. With the help of the sYc membership, I was able to do this, by replacing many of the daily driver type cars with vehicles recruited and invited. The special showcase displays are an example of this transition. By utillizing the talent and contacts of recognized and respected enthusiats, we plan to continue this momentum. Bottom line, a check and an entry fee will not necessarily get a car into the show. BA |

Looking at the Donald Stephens center Available dates after July for 2009 are: August 15-16 September 13-14 September 19-20 September 26-27 October 10-11 October 31-Nov. 1 It still shows that Vettefest is at the center...

Dates have been secured and they are familiar; November 21-22, 2009. The reasoning behind this is simple. We dont want to be too early, as drawing a good spectator base is crucial. If we are too early, (as in Sep/Oct), we risk a too warm situation, where many people prefer to take advantage of the last few decent weather days in the Chicago area. The dates fall just after SEMA, which generates a ton of car related interest, but ahead of the Holiday season, which we can't compete with. These dates have proven to work, as seen by the huge differance in spectator participation between the former Fall and Spring events in the Chicago area. It seems like the mid November dates kind of close out the car season for most of us who live in the midwest. BA |

Bob, you know this business better than any of us. You've set the dates, you'll pick a name, you'll tell us when to be there and let us know what you need. WE'RE THERE!
And if you need help setting up or during the show, just holler.
