Jeff,

I'm surprised that we got down the track without much breakage for a 3700lb car! Those were the days.

Great shots of the Yenko Chevelle too!

Jerry, the only thing i really remember him breaking was the original motor....shot 2 rods out the pan and 1 stuck in the frame rail. i do have pics of that too. and numerous valve stems would rip out of the tubes. did you have air bags in the coils too ?

Here's one from 75-80 Dragway in Monrovia, MD from the early 1970s. This must be a time run as I'm running a Pinto. Go figure. This was as great place to race.

Here's the first time out with the 1966 SS396 Chevelle that we built and finished in 1978. Car went 10.80s at 126 mph the first time out and was fast. The following year, I had this car in the high nine second zone. Was a much better car for racing.

More National Dragster ink from 1977, this must be just before I retired the '69 Chevelle from racing.

Was not going to cut up my first new car and this led to the purchase of the 1966 SS396 Chevelle.

Both Paul Kiel (Mr. 427) and I had great seasons in 1978. We both won the track championships that year.

Jerry, I was looking at the list of car and drivers. I noticed John Boughers Virginia Gentlemen was on the list. Do you remember the car?

John,

Yes, both Paul amd me knew him well. Great guy and a very good racer to boot. He had only passed away about two years ago. Think he was born in 1917 if I remember correctly. I remember this because he always told us that he was born the same year as John F. Kennedy.

His Vette was green before it got the red paint. Power windows too.

John,

I actually have some video at the track back in the early 1980's of John and his Corvette. I'll have to see if I can dig it out.
