I sent some X-mas flowers to a friend outside of Portland, Oregon. Got a message from the florist that they would have difficulties delivering it because of to much snow.

Here in the homeland of Santa we haven't seen any snow yet this year. I guess you got ours too over there.

Sam and all, I know for all the guys back east this would be normal, BUT as you alluded to, this is unusual for Western Wash to have snow lasting this long........

All my Camaros are warm and safe as I'm sure yours are.
I live immediately south of Seattle in Renton. Sam lives north of Seattle in Lynnwood, probably 1 hour from me....

Work unloading ships at the Port of seattle is really slowed by these conditions

regards to all,

I worked up an appetite shoveling the driveway this afternoon. Ate like a horse at dinnertime. Took some Advil to calm the muscle groups I rediscovered...

Can't wait for the thaw.

I lived in Seattle from '94 to '00. It snowed this much maybe once in that time (Christmas '98?). The city shuts down after a few inches.

Sam, What a nice view! I bet you and Chuck are lovin it BUT not saying. How about the kids in the area? Got any sleds? I will send you out my snow blower with some scrapple. It was 40 something here yesterday so I took the nova for a ride. Merry Christmas to you guys out there! Stay warm. P.S. Chuck, get those ships unloaded. WalMart needs a restock!

Jeff,
No snow shovel, I have been making do with a 10" spade and a pushbroom. The pushbroom broke though.

It was supposed to rain on the 26th but did not get warm enough and snowed some more. Yesterday and today started to thaw, now we have a four to six inch rutted ice and slush cake on our street.

Sue and I went out to shovel tire tracks in the street yesterday morning so we could get out, two neighbors came out and helped. Three hours later we had a trail to get out on. A couple slices of scrapple would have tasted great with our eggs after that!

Luckily we have NOT been getting a lot of rain with the thaw, we are getting enough flooding as it is. If the temps stay above 32 for two more days the street should be close to clear.

Sammy, until the temp got above 32 Friday night, there was lots of sledding for the kiddies on the hills. I could have made a bundle with a snow thrower, even more with a plow blade for the trailblazer. The county can't be bothered to plow even the main roads (numbered state highways!) so there's no chance they will get anywhere near us. We didn't have any mail service on the 22nd, 23rd or the 24th, and the nearby mall had most of their parking lots unusable from Saturday through Tuesday.

I lived in New England for about ten years, we got a lot more snow and cold there but everything was set up to deal with it. Here our cities, counties, and state are not equipped or budgeted to clear snow to any degree at all.

But enough whining, I had a great Christmas, and I hope you all did too!

You are VERY correct. They closed the Naval Shipyard Monday account of conditions in the surrounding area,,,Very rare to shutdown.
Praying for RAIN!

Happy Times
