What about GM Engine Oil Supplement (EOS). I understand it is high in Zinc. It better be, I'm using it in my Chevelle.

[/ QUOTE ]

Both Jeg's and Summit Racing sell EOS (#88862586) for $19.95/pint. That's is double what ZDDPlus goes for...and the zinc content is lower as well.

Several of the oils from Amsoil meet or exceed the zinc/phosphorus levels necessary for flat tappet engines without any extra additives.

I run valvoline racing VR1 10w30 oil and a bottle of comp cams break in lube in my 406 as per my builders recommendation. I've got one of the xtreme energy hydraulic flat tappet cams in it with the high ramp rates/spring pressures and he said that was the best prevention for wiping a cam lobe. As others have mentioned, I would not run a synthetic oil.

Anyone here have an opinion one way or the other about Z Max???

[/ QUOTE ]

Here's a link to one of Z-Max's numerous consent decrees with the Federal Trade Commission over false and misleading advertising; they're in violation AGAIN, and the current complaint is in litigation. When you sell something for 50 times what it costs to make it, you make lots of money to pay lawyers to keep the FTC tied up in court and off your back, and you can spend lots of marketing money (like paying Bruton Smith millions to call his new dragstrip "Z-Max Dragway").
