engine is to be a true 427..NOS 6223 crank..Manley H beam rods..10.5:1 compression..full solid roller valve train. This is going to be driven..pump gas for me please!!

That ZL-1 is beautiful. Putting it on the rug was a nice touch. |

I don't know if you've purchased your solid roller camshaft yet, but if you havent, you should really consider the Comp Cams 288 Street Roller. It's a great camshaft that I (and many others) have used with great success. Easy on the valvetrain and great power. I put many reliable miles and 1/4 mile passes on mine with never a problem. Very popular and with good reason.

[/ QUOTE ] Mark I jhave used that cam before..several times in fact..really like too...have not picked one out yet..have some idea of what I want..I'll post it here before I buy..just want to get the short block and heads done so I can bring it on home..put it on the stand..sit on my oriental rug and enjoy the view..actually the rug is a repro made in Iowa..100% synthetic material ![]()

Al,
This is always an interesting BBC subject. I believe the reason that the '7115 crankshaft was used in the L-88 and ZL-1 applications was due mainly to the towering dome heights of the pistons and the reciprocating forces that ensued. I've never gotten a definitive answer on that issue. Anyway know? Nuch
