Rick, I was thinking to ask same question, but figured it would be the small.
You and I have got to be two of the very few 2nd Gen'rs on this site that would ask that question Do you have knowledge or experience in enlargening the opening. Is it as simple as keeping the edge straight and clean ????????

I think you could trace out the opening and use a nibbler or a sabresaw. Carefully of course. I might buy it just to have it. My survivor car with A/C has a mint rad support in it and I would use it as a pattern Chuck H. Please let me know what the rad support looks like and I am very interested in it. Thanks Rick H. |

Im going to go on the assumption i have the one you dont want, until i can look at it. This is more than likely the later one rather than the early one,and im assuming thats the difference in the holes?

Chuck S., did the Z-28 and other small blocks with Air Conditioning get the larger opening support. My 70Z has the wider radiatior although it was a 2 core from the factory. I believe Big Blocks used the same width but with 3 or 4 core thickness. Thanks,
Paul

I am assuming the large hole is for a big block ? [/ QUOTE ] No. The larger opening is for any Camaro that was optioned with the VO1 radiator. The Z/28 got the larger radiator automatically. A six cylinder or any of the small blocks with A/C would get the large opening as well. A big block if so ordered with VO1 would get the larger opening as well. The larger opening was just to let more air flow for the larger radiator. My survivor with a 307 and A/C has the large opening radiator. Chuck H, I am still very interested in the rad support. Large or small opening, still interested. Rick H. |

Rick, I have been thinking and telling others that ALL the big blocks had the large opening rad support.
Please confirm which 70-72 Big Block applications came with the std/small opening rad support. Maybe we/I should take this info to a old/existing thread at www.nastyz28.com, but it would be great to have listed the misc radiator applications for the 70' Camaro Z-28, L-78 and L-34 with and w/o A/C Thanks,

Chuck,
I am not quite sure if all BB's got the large opening. I have it in some paperwork but I'm in Arizona right. I'll check when I get home. I do know for a fact that other engines (six cylinder, SB etc..) got the larger opening if they had A/C or the heavy duty VO1 radiator option. If not then they got the standard radiator with the smaller opening. Rick H. |
