That bracket above is a 1970 Camaro Holley equipped application..i.e. LT-1 & L-78.
That one looks like the much later issued #814 bracket,as compared to the original design #982 bracket with the wider offset. Here is the Nova-Chevelle #619 L-78 & LS-6 bracket. Pictures were featured here last year in a topic by P.J.of their different variations. ![]() |

Yes Peter
There is a difference in the 619 brackets for the L78 VS the Ls6 brackets. In the reaserch I did a year ago I found out after looking at about 15 cars that were origional cars documented that the bracket on the right of the 3 brackets is the L78 bracket. And the 2 on the left are ls6 cars. I did not find any l78 cars with the ls6 bracket.I dont know why the brackets are differnt with the same part number As you can see some numbers are deeper than others, thats because the die that struck the brackets were sharpened and the bump lock on the die was not ground the same amount to offset the new die punch heigth. The differnce is in the locking tab area. I am including a pic of the real L78 bracket for the 70 chevelle. Peter |

Who's Peter.
![]() I don't think that recess for the tab was L-78 specific, but more of a certain regional suppliers early tooled version, and thus found their way on a few L-78 Chevelles.(Early production) There are a few L-78 Nova-Chevelles that have that non recessed tab version too, that claim to be untampered with today. Who really knows for sure. ![]() |

Sorry Rick
I had St Peter on my mind Yes you are right. All the ones I ran into were the early brackets for the L78 I beleive that the die was modified later because of ease of maintainance and that is why the change in the bracket, Peter |
