I would like to respond to the issue of the casting date and the engine stamp being one day apart.Being a corvette guy, I've seen this before in engines produced in Tonawanda. If you reference Alan Colvin's Chev By The Numbers {1965-1969] page56, you will see that its possible to have the same casting date and engine stamp on the same day. Notice on that page, the engine stamp and suffix code is applied at Tonawanda during the assembly line build up. And, if you think it takes longer than a 8 hour shift, the you have never visited a GM plant.
