Rare 1969 Camaro SS 396 Norwood Code X66 with Protect-o-plateChevrolet: 1969 Camaro Super Sport, L78 (396/375HP) with Protect-o-Plate and 3 owner title history Miles: 50,835 Doors: 2 Door Engine: 8 cyl Interior: Black Warranty: None Exterior: Red Title: Clear Year: 1969 Condition: Used VIN Number: 124379N653402 Now to the car. As you can see, the car was built in Jun 1969. The original engine with T0417JH on front engine pad (Protect-o-plate) and matching VIN # adjacent to the oil filter is the “original” engine. The block casting #3955272 with a build date of D149 (Apr 14, 69), left cyl head cast #3919840 dated C289 (Mar 28, 69). Right cyl head casting #3919840 dated C289 (Mar 28, 69). The original intake with new holley correct 4346 carb. The exhaust manifolds are GM correct casting, non-smog. The 12 bolt posi casting BV0505G per “pop” in car. The M21 Muncie close ratio transmission P9E07, has been replaced with a M21 close ratio dated P9H20B. The original Hurst shifter in car. Bell housing 3899621. The car is code 52 (Garnet Red) with black hockey stick stripes, code 66 super sport trim package, interior is code 711 black standard bucket seats (original interior in good condition) with new carpet. Original shoulder harness with Irwin Air decals attached. The car has a very detailed frame on restoration, with all new sheet metal, either GM NOS or Goodmark replacement. The paint is absolute show condition, Cowl Induction Hood and complete air cleaner package. Brakes are J52 power disc, with correct proportion valve under drivers door, correct rally wheels with Firestone Red line tires, new exhaust system and new Delco shocks. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: This is rare 1969 Camaro SS L78 Norwood built code X66 true survivor. The car is an unbelievable straight, original optioned car with the following: The car has the original protect-o-plate with the 1st owner’s name and information on purchase from Carl Schmidt Chevrolet, Inc. in Perrysburg, OH on July 31, 69. The Dealer’s emblem (Carl Schmidt Chev) is still attached to trunk area. Car was sold to 2nd owner in 1976 and was not sold again until Feb 25, 2006. Wow! T0417JH, same engine build date as my 69 SS L-78 Camaro, but my build date was 04C. My original block was lost in the early 70's due to a dropped valve, I have been looking for another T0417JH block for awhile. GM must have assembled a batch of engines that day since yours was built several months after mine.

P-O-P says T0417JH but block is stamped T0415JH, something is not right. The VIN stamp is out of focus so it cannot be verified. Here is a pic of my P-O-P for reference.
