Thanks for posting the article on the Black Panther Camaro. What magazine was that in? It is interesting to read some of the descriptions such as when they refer to the 427Ãs wide torque curve as œhappily burble along at 30 in top”. The name given to the car may have hurt the U.S. sales because of the controversial Black Panther Party in the USA that was founded in 1966

Hi JoeC !

The Magazine is Canada Track & Traffic May 1967 ( It have an error on the book, on the first page, its write May 1967 so in the book its write May 1966. I don' t know what is the error. )

In the history of Camaro, the name Panther is one of the names proposed for this car.

A guy contact me by e-mail and he have infos about 2 Camaro Black Panther. I tell you if I have news about this.

I noticed in the pictures that they show three different cars. A standard Camaro, an SS Camaro, and the third is an RS SS Camaro. The underhood picture is a small block engine. Would the Canadian govenernment records show how many 427 replacement engines were imported by Gorries Downtown Chevrolet in 1967?

Yes JoeC

The first Camaro on the top of the ads is a standard Camaro with Black Panther scheme and probably a superstock olds wheels(Magnum 14")

The other Camaro is a SS/RS but the pic is too little for know more.

The third Camaro (on page 46) is a Camaro SS-350 Black Panther with sidepipes, on the review the crest SS-350 is more visible.
The text on this review don' t match with the pictures.

Do you think the first Camaro and the third Camaro is the same car with an SS hood and crest ???
