nice article, here are the ZL-1s mentioned #2, #5, and #29

Grady Bryant's ZL-1 #29 was built as a light weight match race and AHRA drag car (like the #1 Fred Gibb car) fiberglass nose, no front brakes, clutch turbo, and a drag chute

Thanks for posting the picture of the Grady Bryant ZL-1 Camaro and explaining the details of purpose.

Match racing was a popular segment that drew a lot of people’s interest back in the day. Having a well known car that was competitive, matched to another, was a fan favorite making money for the strip owner & car owners alike?

Grady Bryant authored a book several years back called “Match Race Madness.” Grady had many stories in this book about growing up with Dick Harrell about their involvement in the early stages of drag racing.

Below is a letter Grady penned about the book he published that came with the order.

Is the Grady Bryant car (#29) the ZL-1 that William referred to in another post that raced for one season and went missing?

Dave,

I don't recall what William's post was, but I believe he would more than likely have the history about the Grady Bryant Camaro. Bill Porterfield was a good historian of records for the ZL-1 Camaros and I would imagine have the history of the Grady Car?

Grady Bryant was a funny car driver and friend of Dick Harrell.

Grady had a deal to run the ZL-1 #29 Camaro for McKay Chev for one year, then he went back to running a Funny Car.

He said the ZL-1 was sold. He later heard it was stripped and buried in some type of insurance scam.
