I’ll always be loyal to GM because they were there for me when I needed a hand. They enabled me to get my first engineering degree via GMI & sent me to graduate school at their expense. However, I do recognize the reality of how badly their service has deteriorated over the years. Small example - my Denali got a recall for a software update. I called the selling dealer & was told that I could drop it off next week (update would take 2 hours - so impractical to wait). If I wanted a loaner car, my appointment would be in 2 1/2 weeks!

Now for first hand examples of the competition: 1. My wife’s Lexus SC430 is literally 21 years old (summer car with 42k miles). When she takes it in for service, they don’t even ask if she wants a loaner car until she drops her car off. They just give her a loaner on the spot (no charge). 2. When I told my son that I had to drop the Denali off for a software update, he was shocked! He said that his Tesla gets software updates while it’s sitting in his driveway.

I empathize with Steve’s daughter soooo much. My experience is just inconvenience. Her experience put the family at risk.

It just sucks that GM has gotten to this point :-(

My 2024 Silverado also needs a software update, and the dealer said i would have to leave it for the whole day. No loaner car provided
