this photo of the Funny car and Yenko Nova was posted on FB

Is this photo at Dale Chevrolet?

someone posted that it is from Braeger Chev ?

I found an old photo of Braeger and a ad from Dale 1969 advertising 1969 427s

it is early in the investigation of this car so some conflicting info is coming out.

I think it will take some time to get all the info correct , and paperwork , photos, etc

I searched for the Viking Funny car on a FC site and didn't find it but found the Dale Super Hugger run by Bernie Adams from Milwaukee, WI.

I’m here in Wauwatosa this weekend visiting my mom. So cool that this car was stashed away for so long, just one town over.

The Ghetto Rat is such a cool piece!

I saw that car about 5-6 years ago at a car show in Butler. What a time capsule!

I lived a few miles from Braeger in 1969 and am virtually certain that is where that photo was taken. They were the first 'Mega Dealership' in the area, located in a former department store. Not really a performance dealership but sold a lot of everything, including performance cars. Have the pop from a Garnet Red L78/M22/ZL2 Camaro sold there. Still in the same location today.

The circa 1962 photo is the former location, when Bob Braeger and Jim King were partners. They parted about that time, Jim King opening a small dealership in a residential area on the SE side of Milwaukee. Showroom still there. The former King-Braeger store is now an Auto Zone.

I agree with William. I worked at Braeger from 1984-1991 and that looks like the showroom there. Still in the same location today, but now called Lake Chevrolet.

Just adding a little more info to the thread re: Braeger Chevrolet. I've located a Feb. 1984 press photo showing the inside of the dealership featuring Bob Braeger (L), which coincidentally is the year I started working there. The interior features in the 1969 photo (floor tile, ceiling, walls) all appear to be an exact match to confirm the location.

I've found the owner of the Viking Camaro. He passed away in 2016. He also ran a Camaro known as Viking 2. He was out of Chicago.

Many times these drag cars (Viking, etc..) would be showcased in a dealership prior to an upcoming drag racing event. Yunker, Hult, Bob Johnson, Dale, and Broadway all sold Chev Supercars in '69 in Wisconsin. This event at Braeger could have been a showcase for a Great Lakes Dragway event. Many times drag cars sat on the showroom floor in the days prior to an upcoming drag racing event. The Nova could have been loaned to Braeger (or dealer traded) to drum up hi-po muscle car sales.

A few years ago I was offered the Dale Chevrolet archive of invoices for 25K. I have no idea where they ended up.

Humphrey Chev in Milwaukee also sold a lot of Corvettes and performance cars. They had a Yenko franchise for 1967. Closed and razed in the early '70s.

This Nova is said to have a BV 4:10 rear and most of the Yenko ads for the 427 Nova specify 4:10 gears.

This is something I was always curious about because the 1969 SS396 Nova power team chart does not list the 4:10 gear.

1969 Camaro and Chevelle SS396 power team chart does list the 4:10 gear but not SS 396 Nova

With all the COPO and special orders that Yenko was able to get, I would think he could have got a COPO to get the 1969 Nova SS396 BV 4:10 rear.

He may have got the BV but I have not seen anything on it.
Would need to find a POP or paperwork from one of the 427 Novas that shows a BV.

Some of the Yenko sold 1969 SS396 Novas have 3:55 gears.
