My car is a July of 69 car. Maybe that had something to do with it. My friend did confirm that his set up called for the battery with a positive terminal next to the fender.

I have found the following codes on build sheets, not sure about the specific part numbers or lengths but it might help someone;
Box 50: BATTERY POS CABLE AM-L35/L34/L78/COPO engine MK-L22 6 cyl engine ML-307 engine MM-L35 MP-LM1/L48 350 engine Box 51: BATTERY NEG CABLE YA-L22 6 cyl engine YE-307 engine YF-LM1 350 engine/L48 YG-L35/L34/L78/COPO engine Take care, Andy
