If my memory is any good, the glass is held into the channel with some friction tape - pressed fit. The windows are unique, but can be rolled all the down. There is a special guide on the front track in order to do this. Putting them back up can be a challenge, and one should usually use two hands to do so.

It is a special type of friction tape. It's still available and will work but care, and patience are needed. Most used is blk urathane. The same stuff used to install frt, and back glass.
It's not a hard top. Leave em up.
Back in "older times" when Chevelles, and Camaros (hard tops) were popular everyday drivers, people would sometimes get in the back seat of Novas after having consumed way more beer than needed. Rolled down that qtr window, and wrapped their hand around that B pillar before realizing that when the guy in frt shut the door, it was going to be on your hand.
Ask me how I know.

I have used the blk urathane with very good luck. I found if you put a small amount of white grease in that channel it does wonders. I can roll my quarter windows up and down with no problems. Guess I am lucky one.!

The lithium grease is a good solution. We sometimes use slick 50 synthetic lube on the plastic guide.
Make sure the screws are pulled as tight as possible, or the guide will hang up on them.

I would rather remove and install kick panels than have to deal with 1/4 windows on a Nova. I have thought about disabling the regulators so they cannot be used... Pain in the butt.

The windows work properly if all is correct. The nylon guide needs to be intact, many break with age in hot climates. The front rail should be glued with 3M 5200. The farther down the windows are rolled the more effort needed to roll them back up so make a stop to limit drop.If they do stick down, 2 fingers on top edge to lift while cranking will do. Anyone have a source for the nylon guides???

I do not know of a source for the special guides, but you are correct - if everything is properly installed and lubed the windows will go all the way down (and back up) with minimal effort.

Did you have any luck with finding the nuts on the backside of that dashpad Chris? Welcome to the Nova world!
