69 Nova window track
How is the glass supposed to stay affixed to the side track? Crimp the metal track and wedge it in or some type of adhesive? It seems that both rear windows have not been successfully operated in many years and are dislodged from factory intended locations https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif
How far are the windows supposed to go down, until the glass is out of sight or is some still exposed. Thanks. Pictures and small words spoken slowly always appreciated. http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...5_442846_n.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/stupid.gif |
Re: 69 Nova window track
Welcome to the world of Nova 1/4 glass...1st rule: never, ever use the rear windows!! rule 2, if you do..see rule 1 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
they don't go all the way down...chrome trim/guide can be glued on..best results are with the window unit completely removed.... no need to roll down the rear glass..keep everybody in the front seat https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif |

some yellow weather strip adhesive? |
Re: 69 Nova window track
If my memory is any good, the glass is held into the channel with some friction tape - pressed fit. The windows are unique, but can be rolled all the down. There is a special guide on the front track in order to do this. Putting them back up can be a challenge, and one should usually use two hands to do so.

[/ QUOTE ] It is a special type of friction tape. It's still available and will work but care, and patience are needed. Most used is blk urathane. The same stuff used to install frt, and back glass. It's not a hard top. Leave em up. Back in "older times" when Chevelles, and Camaros (hard tops) were popular everyday drivers, people would sometimes get in the back seat of Novas after having consumed way more beer than needed. Rolled down that qtr window, and wrapped their hand around that B pillar before realizing that when the guy in frt shut the door, it was going to be on your hand. Ask me how I know. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |
Re: 69 Nova window track
I have used the blk urathane with very good luck. I found if you put a small amount of white grease in that channel it does wonders. I can roll my quarter windows up and down with no problems. Guess I am lucky one.!
