where a block sat around or as Kevin said - bottom of the pile

[/ QUOTE ] Most likely thats the case. The stamp date is definately June 11 not June 1..

Ive never seen a lead time over 6/7 months in 20 years[and ive only seen 2 that far off], not to say it couldnt have happened. In this case id say its more than possible.

Chuck I should have clarified in my last post I agree with you 100% on the lead time. I have not touched as many BBC as you have for sure but I have noticed your statement holds true except for 1970 it seems especially in the 454's.
When I checked my combo out with Mr.70 he indicated there was a delay in the release of the new design M22 which pushed some 454 engines back. Mine was a m22 which may explain the 9 months.Correct me Rick if that statement is not right.
Take care Joe

I have seen several cases of wide date gaps on 70 #854 blocks....we even have one in the garage. Block has a casting date of G 1 9 July 1, 1969....assembly date on the engine is T0701CTY... July 1, 1970...car has a first week of July date on the cowl tag...trans and rear are within a few days of each other. The VIN on our car is approx....14,000 units later than this car...so that looks good too. This Nova is completely documented and stampings are the real deal...
