Jeff, what is your opinion of the gulf blue with white stripe 1969 Z/28 that had bidding up to $148,000 on e-bay about a month ago. If I read the description right (and I am going off of memory here) he has documentation showing that the car was ordered with the cross ram and it was installed by GM after the car went through the production line but before the dealer recieved the car. That would contradict everything I know about these cars. Another thing I remember that was odd about the car was the steel cowl induction hood with the smaller cross ram air cleaner asm.

I wish I could remember the details on that car well enough. I remember they said it was ordered with JL8 brakes but it was cancelled so that option was not installed. It was hard to read some of the documentation in the pictures but I think there was another option that was not installed(maybe chambered exhaust). That car is a real mystery to me, but if the crossram was added in Engineering like the 68 Z28 conv, then I would not consider it fatory installed since it was not put on the car as it came down the assembly line. That's my opinion on parts added by Engineering so please don't anyone overreact. I wish we knew more details on that Blue car and the documentation with it. Maybe since the car was a special paint they pulled it aside for that and someone saw the other parts ordered with it and they said to install them so the dealer wouldn't have to.

Mark-
There is no mention in the auction of the car being factory installed with the crossram. This is a long known fact that they were strictly over the counter items.

If memory serves me correctly, the only real special thing about the blue car was the fact that the documents show it being a special paint car and that it was ordered with the Xram and JL8 options on paper. I don't think the crossram was installed at the factory and don't recall that being stated either. The car IMHO, is not worth what it was bid to, if in fact the bids were legitimate to start with. There was some speculation as to the reserve being set that high to create some histeria over it and possibly shill bidding just short of the actual reserve. I think the owner was fishing and that the car will resurface for sale in the very near future asking more than what the eBay run went to.

Just my observations and my little 2 bits worth.
