The 67 shifter is a bit different. The 68-9 shifter will work with some massaging if I remember correctly. I think the trouble is when going into reverse.

I have a real '69 shifter handle that has been drilled for a newer comp plus shifter. maybe I should put that on?

sorry but Jason is not right on this one, there the same shifter 67,8,9. they rub from not being centered in the hole like I said, '67 consoles are unique and tight, if your tight on the left, its because the trans is left on the mounts, loosen up the trans push it hard to the pass side and have the other guy tighten it down, if thats not enough do the same to the cross member. thats what makes '67s so cool when you get it right and the slider glides back and forth as you row through the gears

Here are a couple of pics that I took today of my winter project.

Also, does anyone have info/techniques on getting old horns to work? This discussion may belong in a different catagory - but they are the horns to this car.

LOL...I have had good luck hitting them with a hammer. Try not to dent it though.

The contact points are rusted together. Unscrew the little adjuster nut and then spray a lot of wd40 in there and let it soak in. Then replace the screw and hook the terminal to 12 volts and ground the bracket. If no horn sound yet, start whapping the horn with a wooden mallet repeatedly until the contacts break loose. You'll know when the repair is successful when your wife starts yelling at you...or when the horn noise drowns out your wife yelling at you.

I soaked them with WD and put the adjusting screw back in. If the contacts are stuck together, should I get a spark when I hook up the 12 volts? I get no spark, no humm, no nothing. Waddya think - keep beating?????? Then send the pieces to the restorer?
