What would be the correct battery for an LS6 Chevelle built in early June of 1970 at the Baltimore Plant with the T-60 option. I do not have the Baltimore build sheet only the Canadian one. I know early cars came with a R79W. Was there a switch to the R89W later in the production and when ?
Thanks Nick |

R79W,and it wasn't just early assemblies,as the majority (99.9%) of them came with it.
The R-89W was the exception for a couple very late builds ONLY,(mid July 70-Aug.70),at some plants. I few early LS-6 builds also received the R-59S top post, but they are by far the exception. |

My 06D built (from trim tag) LS6 was actually completed in the 1st week of July and was fitted with an R79W. Nick, have you entered yr LS6 in the LS6 Registry ?

My Bal LS6(12B) has an R79 ,but there was a sheet for smallblock elco found under the dynamat that was eight digits earlier, called for an R-59. Are there documented later built Bal LS6'S with R59's ? |
