1111170 distributor markings
I have a 170 distributor which appears to be a low mile take off, I would like to know what the purple paint marking means???? Also there appears to be a J on the Vacuum unit. What would this mean aswell??? Thanks

According to Colvin, the paint stripe is to identify the distributor without having to read the number on it.

Great info...I checked our 1968 dated 170 and it has the purple paint mark....

 . Can anyone tell me whats the going rate for this particular distributor???? This one does not have a date code close to the build date for my car, would like to get the correct date code. Thanks.
