I hear you Ken and we agree more than we disagree on the details. All I said was that it is a HUGE problem and there probably won't be an answer to how we deal with it in our lifetimes.

We are already paying, by the way. Poor people and the uninsured are already flooding the health care system. Go to any emergency room almost any time of day to see the poor, the unemployed, illegals, you name it, they are already in there 50 or more deep. We really don't have a homeless problem in my local area nor are there a lot of poor people--until you go to the emergency room. These people don't care about Michael Moore or insurance or what it costs, they have bypassed all that and gone to the hospital. It's the rest of us who pay our HMO premiums (and taxes!) and then get dicked-around by our HMOs. Somebody tell me who's the smart one here?

By the way, anybody see the story about the Mexican lady who died on the floor of an ER waiting room in Los Angeles a few days ago? Witnesses even called 911 from the waiting room as she vomited blood and died and no one from the hospital staff (as far as we know at this point) did anything to help her. The 911 operator put the blame on the caller! There's probably more to this story but it doesn't look good so far.

As for lawyers, they are into everything. Everything lucrative, that is. (I know, lawyers gotta' eat too.)

As for John Edwards, I am not impressed with anyone running for president in 2008. I'm still not ruling-out a late entry by Jeb Bush, say, by next spring, jumping in as the man on horse-back come here to save us. Iraq's a mess though so he may cough twice and pass this time.

We do live in interesting times.
