We hear you loud and clear on this one. I have been dealing with this for over 20 years and have worked very closely with some of the manufactures. I constantly ask, why when you are paying a designer to sit at a drafting table making the part while using an NOS original part to draw and measure from do you cut corners. It would have cost you NOTHING more to do it right the first time. Most of the things they scimped on were petty at best and there was absolutely no reason NOT to do it right the first time. I am constantly told the same thing you were, "you are the only one who has complained!"
I am not new to manufacturing processes and things like gas tanks, weatherstriping, door handles, carpet, emblems, decals, exhaust hangers, wiring harnesses, inner fenders, etc, etc, would have cost NO more to do them right the first time around. I boggles my mind but only a select few have changed their tooling and gotten better.
