Re: New Muncie

No, it's a new transmission with new gear ratios; 1-3 are close and then 4th is an over-drive.

New Muncie

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the new M-22's and if the model with the fourth gear as an overdrive would be worth getting.

Re: Needing reassurance on purchase

I'll have to say some of these forums are very good reading material; better than some of the magazines I read.

I would say there will probably come a day you'll be glad you have the car.

65 283 rebuild

I'm planning to rebuild a 283 block; I have the 461 double hump camel heads. Any ideas of a good cam? I want a somewhat mild engine pushing around 270-300 hp but decent on fuel consumption.

Re: suspension SS427

What makes a Budd frame different from the normal frame? Also what is the F41 package?

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

Beautiful cars. I would love to drive an L78.

I have a Biscayne and a 70 LS6 engine and was thinking of mating the two together. What kind of suspension upgrades would be needed? Also do you...

suspension SS427

Out of curiosity, a while back I was reading about the SS427 Impala and descibed it as having a 'bud frame,' supposedly unique to these cars.

What exactly is a bud frame?

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

Another thought, I noticed that the 7K tach's were for those equipped with 4-speeds. Does that mean that none of these tachs were issued in L78's with automatics, or were L78's only equipped with...

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

Do you still have the convertible? If so I'd like to see a picture. Also is the red hardtop an L78 also?

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

That confirms it alright. I think it's silly someone would go through the trouble of stamping a fake number on the back. Anyhow thanks for the education. This info will be useful for others who...

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

Thanks for the Picture of the 7K, very nice! It clearly shows a unique face plate inpression as opposed to mine which has the 6K impression as illustrated by Rainer.

So now I need to understand...

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

The attachment is a close-up of the last digit, the best I can do.

Also wondering if 'L78Impala' could still post a picture of his 7K Tach. I'm still not sure whether my tach is original.

Re: 1965 L78 Impala Tachometer

If you study the picture of the Tach, you can see indentions where the usual 6K tach face would be placed. Wouldn't the 7K tach have its own unique face plate imprint?
It would be nice to have a...

1967 Impala 427 ss

My brother found a 67 impala convertible 427 ss that is a bench 4 speed, original royal plum exterior with white interior. Has 4D on vin tag. Does it mean it is a Z-24?
