You do not have to pull the engine to replace the rear main seal. I did it on my '68 L79 Corvette. With the frame of a C3 it is not hard at all to get the oil pan off with the engine in the car -...

One more difference between the '68 Corvette 327/300 and the L79 327/350 is that the L79 has a chrome oil fill cap the the base engine cap is painted. The two stamp pad codes are HT and HP. I have...
