Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
I know where a 1970 SS 396 is. It has a 454 in it that runs, the 396 is complete and the owner says it's the original motor, but needs to be rebuilt. It spun a main bearing. Here is my website with some pics and details.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
to my knowledge LS6 el camino's are more rare than LS6 convertible's which make them worth more just my 2 cents
|
Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
As I recall, I think the estimate on the LS-6 ElCaminos was around 500 and the Convertibles was around 100. Dan Carr did a nice poster a few years back that listed all the production #'s using a statistical analysis. Not 100% accurate obviously, but better than the guesses that everyone else uses. The high horse convertibles regardless of the manufacturer generally have market values multiple times higher than the hardtop w/the same engine. Chevelles, Cudas, GTOs, etc.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
I'm a fan of el caminos, but even I wouldn't suggest they are worth more than convertibles.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
Joe, I don't know who made the offer, but I can tell you who owns the black LS6....Tommie Lee Austin from Arizona who turned down the offer.

Thanks for the welcome mr70!
I aquired my ls6 El Camino in jan 04. I have been busy doing alot of research and a frame on resto of it since. The verdict is, that it is rust free and is in fact has number matching engine, trans and rear. Many componets where long gone and I have spent most of the last year searching for parts like exhaust manifolds, correct carb, distributor, a complete emmissions system, alt and many other parts that hit the trash can over the years. Luckily it had all the correct pulleys, 291 heads, intake, radiator. All the glass except the rear glas was still original and 3 of the 4 wheels were original also. There is no info on how many ls6 El Camino's Chevrolet produced. Estimates run from 25 to 500. The value of a restored car like this can only be guessed at until one shows up at BJ or some other well known source. I paid 45k for mine and it needed a complete mechanical restoration and repaint. I figure to have 20 to 25k invested to complete the car. My insurance company helped me set a value figure for coverage at 90k. No its not for sale!! Any info anybody has on this odd and rare car/truck would be of great help. Regards, Rick PS Mike Bond emailed me a few pics of his ls6 Elky. Sweet!! |

|
Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
Yes Charley, cortez silver is the correct color. Paint and trim is next after mechanics are finished.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
Your kidding..
Charley isn't that the one you got off team Chevelle a year or more back?? |
Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
If it is the one World Wide in Oklahoma had, the same vehicle had been listed for sale at Friendly Chevrolet in Tacoma, Washington for $24K. Same car, same pictures. It still had a "Friendly Chevrolet" plate frame on it. I talked to Friendly Chev in August of '03 and was told it had been sold new locally. Didn't follow up on it until I saw it for sale at World Wide for $34K around October '03.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
To finish the above post, I called WW in Dec or January and was told it was sold.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
If you look it the Pictures on Ricks site you will see Clearly the Friendly Chevrolet Licsense Plate frame that says Tacoma.

Re: Anyone have a 1970 El Camino LS6 for sale?
WOW!! I have been trying to find out more history on the car for a year and I learned more about it my first day as a member of this site then the whole past year!! Charley any info you may have would be awesome. Yes the car was purchased from ww in jan. No build sheet has been found as yet. Last place to look is the headliner, I havent removed it yet. When the car was shipped to me it still had the Friendly Chev tag on front and a Washington State Collector car tag on the rear. I have gotten no responce from the last registerd owner in Tacoma.

Hey Rick.
I spent 42 years in Seattle and have a lot of Friends up there. If you could send me an E-Mail, maybe I could help do some history tracking on your El-Camino. MIKE BOND |

Same car. I bought it from the owner of Friendly. It was one of his personal cars. He bought it a couple years before out of Arizona or Los Angeles. Call Friendly and find the owner. He is a very nice guy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
