Motorhead848 04-21-2020 01:44 AM

Try doc rebuild. All the camaro parts house ones are not right.

PCV hose did not have ribs that I’m aware of. GM was still selling that hose a few years back but the ink stamping needs to be removed.

The pictured on left was from a 50K mile 69 Z28. The one on the right is from my 67 L78, which unfortunately was shortened when an 850 holley was installed that had the PVC port in the front.

You may want to move that clamp down to the installed position. Long term in that location will leave a permanent impression on the hose. Ask me how I know.

Still availiable from GM with the moulded end as 68camaroz28 posted .

Our 69 Yenko had the original ribbed hose still with the car though I did replace it with one of Doc's as it was rock hard. For 1970 they went to a smooth hose. I have never documented a 70 with a ribbed hose though in all fairness I seldom look at any early build cars.

I'll have to check tonight, but pretty sure my 04B 70Z has the ribbed hose. I've had it since 78 and while I can't say for sure, it would surprise me that it had ever been replaced before I got to it.

Screwed up! I just checked my survivor list and yes, Skip's 69Z has the ribber hose so I was wrong! Is it normal to see both types on a 69 or only ribbed and what about 68's?

My 06A Z28 still retains the original hose it’s ribbed and has a woven type look , I have owned the car since 1974 BTW

frankk 04-21-2020 08:25 PM

Mike do you know if the current GM hose has the woven back?

I don’t think it’s no where near as pronounced as my original, I have a new GM hose at shop , I am going there tomorrow and will take a picture and post it.

Pretty sure it has no ribs either.

Mike, I have an older NOS GM hose in the garage and NO, it does not have the woven look like your original. Skip's has the same similar look on his survivor. I do not remember this for 68's but apparently missed something. LOL

Thank You Chick, You are 100 % correct, I looked at the 1 at shop, it’s probably 10 years old, it’s not even close and has no ribs.

No ribs on my 86k mile 68Z (LOS) w/ clamps

68camaroz28 04-23-2020 11:07 AM

Steve had posted some excellent info concerning dated cars on a CRG thread:
http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.p...59848#msg59848
and here on the Yenko website some additional info:

Chick here's another 68 datapoint. The 68 time capsule I owned had what appears to be a non-ribbed hose and original assembly line 736C PCV. I'll see if I have any better pics. The hose skin is not as woven/alligatored as the ribbed. The clamp has the radiused end.....

68camaroz28 04-23-2020 11:30 PM

My good friend Skip took his hose off his 68Z survivor and no, it does not have any ribs. He's the 2nd owner and a local car just like his 69Z. Car was taken off the street around 1973/4 so we have a high level of confidence its the original piece. Note the hose skin look!
Steve, thanks for other data point. That clamp change will remain a mystery.

67 Chevelle survivor and it does not have ribs.

69VN 04-29-2020 10:08 PM

I'm not expert in PCV hoses but could there have been
a few different vendors that supplied Chevrolet with their
own hoses? Maybe that could be why you have both a non-
ribbed hose and a ribbed one?

Btw, I saw this on ebay today...

Yes. Most everything that was supplied to a plant had a least 2 suppliers.

Of course agree with Darrell, but the sampling even thou small leans toward ribs not as common on say a 68 like a 69. Hopefully we can add more info as time goes on.

BULLITT65 09-23-2020 07:27 PM

I checked my unrestored 69Z. Looks to be original ribbed hose. 08C (late 69)
