1970 L78 NOVA

I've now had my Nova for over 13 years and have decided to put t on the market. It's an original L78 SS car and was bought new at Edmonton Motors.Included in the enclosed pics is the GM Canada documentation. When I refer to original in the ad it means ''came from the factory with.''All body panels and floors are original...no patches ever...floor has been re-painted.Rear wheel wells had rust damage repair when the car was repainted in 1999.There are no bondo cracks or rust bubbles anywhere in the paint.and I've had it wet sanded so it looks great.Mechanically the car has it's original 3:55 12 bolt posi,hi-po square port heads, distributor, intake and fan.Original factory guages and am/8track work..original factory speaker grills in kick panels.Tilt wheel. The block is an LS6 454-450 H.P.and the tranny is now a Borg-Warner Super T10.All the original factory guages and am/8 track work.New clutch was installed less than 700 miles ago...last changed in 1986.Also in the trunk will be a restamped 4557 correct dated restored Holley carb. Now has a Holley Strip Dominator 830 CFM DP on it.I have 4 large binders with receipts, invoices and info on the Nova going back over 35 years. Most importantly are all the bills and specs on the motor rebuild from 20 years ago.The car is appraissed and insured by Hagerty for $45K.I'd be glad to give you the appraissers name and number so that you could get a third party opinion on the car.The Nova has always been store in an insulated, carpeted heated garage.I'm in Canada...45 miles north of the N.Y.state border.Asking $35K U.S.Thanks,Bill.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/08/full-5177-29865-100_0152.jpg[/img]

Re: 1970 L78 NOVA

Since the pics and video were taken the Nova was wet sanded...for a second time.So the paint is super.Plus about $3K more was spent on more detailing. The car now has more of a day 2 look but all the parts that were taken off go with the car.Has custom made ceramic headers and 3 inch exhaust system. http://www.spd-kilz.com/upload/bill/index.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkDf7PPRzJ0

Get a kick out of the Connell Chevrolet frame. Went to junior high school with one of the Connell kids in Orange County; he was a pretty accomplished high jumper IIRC. Dealership is still there in it's original location on Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa.

The M/T valve covers and aftermarket wires were recently installed.A set of stock repop valve covers 1/2''taller that fit over the roller rockers and a set of correct stock date coded wires will be in the trunk. The Connell license plate frames are gone but I'll throw in an N.O.S.Bay City Chevrolet Number 1 Team frame.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-100_0179.jpg

Re: 1970 L78 NOVA

Is it an LS6 short-block or an LS6 block with different internals?

Re: 1970 L78 NOVA

Here's an email that I got from Al Huscroft.I bought the Nova off of him almost 13 years ago.He owned it for about 25 years. He rebuilt the motor and I have all of the invoices, bills and info on the rebuild.

The short block is a LS6 ,it has all the factory hippo good stuff. Forged and cross drilled crank,7/16 dimpled rods, forged 11:1 Pistons, 4 bolt hi nickel block. The short block must have been changed early in the novas life as I recall the date code on the block was 1973.when I rebuilt the engine it was still all std and I had it bored .030 and the crank turned .010 under and the all rebalanced. The Pistons are the proper 11:1 forged. The rods were all polished ,magnufluxed and resized.i had to replace one rod as one did not pass the magnufluxed test. I ordered a new LS6 rod from the GM dealer. The heads I believe are original to the Nova as the casting dates seem to be correct for the time the Nova was built. I also had them rebuilt with all new guide and stainless steel swirl polished valves. When I was trying to track all of the prevoius owners I got back to a guy who bought in Edmonton in about 1974/75 and he said that it had the LS6 engine already. I asked him who he bought it from and he did not know or kept any records of the sale. I never went back to edmonton motors to find if they had any records of selling the car new and try following the owner up to the mid 70s. I always wanted to know why the short block was changed, whether it failed ,froze,or if the owner just wanted more power. I don't think the car was raced or abused as it is in excellent shape and has to be the tightest muscle car I ever have in in( sure miss that car). Anyways the other day I was going some paper work and I come across a note I made on the front coil springs. I replaced the front coils in about 1980 and when I took them out they still had the paper codes attached to the coils and recorded them, I will email to u for kicks. I never checked the code but would it would brake down to big block with f41 suspession. Did I give you the original spiral front shocks when you bought the Nova? I don't now when I will get out there but every day is one day closer, all the best in the new year!!

Re: 1970 L78 NOVA

Have been asked about the 2 tachs.Stock factory tach on left works but is a little small so I installed the bigger and easier to read aftermarket tach on right. All the factory guages and am/8 track work. The Cragars are 15x7's and were bought with the tires...only about 650 miles on 'em.The blue spinners on the wheels now are Cragar aluminum spinners. The chrome ones will be in trunk.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-100_0180.jpg

The original L78 distributor has been rebuilt with an electronic kit,no more points needed, and is connected to an MSD ignition box discretely installed to the left of the battery. Here also are pics of the underside of the doors.Paint under the doors is perfect just like the door jambs.Any marks are from the camera flash. All w/s on the Nova are in ''new''condition.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-100_0198.jpg
