Jeremiah,
Sorry, I was not trying to imply that the 9 was for "79".I asked because my friend said that he found a five digit number after the radio serial #. The five digits were also larger font size. The number as listed was 1059. we were thinking that if this was a date code it would put the date at October 5th 1969. which would probably mean that this was not the correct radio for the car. But right now we are just guessing on the date code.

I still have the Blue light multi-plex stereo that I pulled out of my first 1969 Camaro back in 1979.

The round transistor on the back reads: Delco GM
DS 50
6848

The white tag on the right side reads: Service Model No 91BFM2

Serial NO 31FSC-1118
Product No 730 7331

Delco Radio Division G.M.C. Kokomo, Indiana

The part number on the buttons is 7306391

There is a number above the left control Knob 730 7746-1

Now if I could only find the Camaros Vin number?

It was a neat Camaro: Silver with Black vinyl top and Deluxe interior.

Fiber optics
350/25O HP
Saginaw 4 speed
10 bolt posi
Multi leaf springs
Dual exhaust
Tac/Gauges
Power Window
Power Steering
Power Disk Brakes
Fold down rear seat
Rear Defrost
Axu. lighting package
Bright trim group

I purchased it from the original owner who bought it off the showroom floor. He told me that it was a real Z28 and that he traded a Boss Mustang in on it, once he got his doors blown off on his first encounter with a Z28.

It was a bargin at $700.00 as it only had just over 100,000 original one owner miles on it back then.

So that's the car that first got your blood pump'n. I see it has only gotten better from there.

My Uncle gave me his 1964 Impala SS 283/pg Rag Top. I wasn't old enough to drive but he figured I could have it back in shape about the time I would start driving.

The first car I purchased prior to getting my licence was my late Cousins 1965 Plymouth Satellite which had a 426 Race Hemi installed when he had it.

The 1969 Camaro was next.

Re: When was the Yellow light MPX stereo introduced?

I dont believe I could get a clear picture without pulling it from the car. My only real concern is that the Yellow light is correct for the time my car was built. I am very pleased with everyones help, Hopefully CRG will narrow down the changeover date within a couple of weeks. Here are the rest of the numbers anyway. Serial#31FSA, Model#91BFM2, Product#730733 and 9044 is after the model number. The sticker in question is on the opposite side of the radio, After looking harder I could see "CONT" on the same sticker with the 5149. Any idea what Cont means? There is an original 69 RS/SS at work with a blue light stereo, It has the same model#. It appears to be the same radio other than the light? Thanks again..
