Typical repop junk! If I had a nickle for every repop part I had to rebuild, make fit, etc I would be able to restore these cars for free!

Once again, a big THANK YOU to Dan for posting these pictures, as I can see that although I DO now have the proper shift linkage, I can see that I am missing the shifter-body-to-crossmember brace. Re: 1969 Daytona Yellow SS396 L78 Chevelle Build
Dan,
Grady had some original engine ID stickers on original valve covers for 69 BB that were white with red letters. Is the yellow with black letters correct for 69 Chevelle? Anyone? Phil Woj. |
Re: 1969 Daytona Yellow SS396 L78 Chevelle Build
Good question Phil......it's one one those parts - out of site out of mind. Perhaps Grady can post a picture. Perhaps a plant specific decal

Re: 1969 Daytona Yellow SS396 L78 Chevelle Build
I took pix of some survivor valve covers that Grady had some years back. Might have lost them in a previous computer crash.
Anyhow, I made these after seeing what he had. Let me know if you want one. I think the small blocks got the yellow with red or black lettering and the big blocks white with red letters. I'm sure someone here knows for sure. Phil http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...psngjszd0k.jpg |

Re: 1969 Daytona Yellow SS396 L78 Chevelle Build
Good stuff Mike.
Those were in fact the pictures I was thinking of. I'm sure few if any of these stickers stood the test of time. My 69 Malibu with 350 had the patch of glue on the back of the valve cover, but the paper was long gone. Thanks for posting. Phil W. |

Re: 1969 Daytona Yellow SS396 L78 Chevelle Build
In recent weeks I was able to contact and began a great relationship with Chevelle owner number 3.
It's always fun listening to the cars history and stories told by the previous owners.....as you can tell by these pictures that this was the fun 1980's era. SO COOL :-) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psyyoaumno.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psqtyaspfl.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pswgh0xfmk.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pszh1obg3h.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psgzqrmabg.jpg Dan |
Re: 1969 Daytona Yellow SS396 L78 Chevelle Build
Love that 80s era pic! I can remember so many cars like that circa-1984! It's got it all... loud graphics, jacked up stance, gold Moroso valve covers, small 8" air cleaner, etc. That would have been quite the ride back in the day.

Dan,
I see IL plates on the car in the 80's pics. Was this car ever in the Chicago area? I had a friend back in 71-72 time frame that had a DY/BVT 69 L78 Chevelle. Needle in a haystack, but you never know. |
