Re: subframe bushing tape...

If it didn't hold the upper bushing to the subframe then what does it tape, or what was its purpose?

Re: subframe bushing tape...

I looked at the tape on my car and it looks like it was used to hold the upper bushing to the floor. If it was used to hold the bushing to the subframe then there must be a lot of tape missing.
Interesting to note is that I do not see any evidence of tape on the drivers side. My floors, subframe and bushings are original to the car so.

Another neat piece on my car is that there are two small rubber pieces taped to the center e-brake cable to keep it from rubbing on the floor. Plus all the original spring tags are still on the car.

If the tape held the bushing to the floor, that means it would have to have been double sided tape. This is way confusing. I'm going to keep digging.....

I've parted out quite a few Camaros over the years, both Van Nuys and Norwood. Never seen any Sub-Frame bushing tape to speak of. I have seen evidence of tape on early 'Vettes' from the St. Louis plant

Please post clear photos of any Camaro S-Frame Bushing Tape that might be OEM. Thanks for your help.

Here it is. That car belongs in a museum, by the way...

All the pics show the tape in the same position, but I don't understand its function https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

The Vette guys say the tape held the bushing to the frame during Body Drop on the assembly line.

So why does the tape appear to be 'stuck' to the floorpan on F-Bodies?

Re: subframe bushing tape...

Exactly what I am wondering.... taping the bushing to the frame makes perfect sense, but this does not appear to be the situation....
