Default 837 Alternator Stamp thoughts

Hey guys, what do you think of this 837 alternator stamp? Original? Does the 3 in the 1100837 look a little off ? Thanks Rob

The only known dates I have in June are 9F2 and 9F17 but there may be other dates.

The #7 in the 837 number is the wrong font.

I’m no expert by any means, but I see the 37 definitely off compared to the many alternators I’ve seen. Even the ones at swap meets tossed in a pile have straight numbers. I’m curious what others think.

Compares well with another stamping two weeks later.

The 7 in the 837 looks wrong to me. In addition to being a bit higher and crooked, it doesn’t have a squared off area in after the change from the horizontal to the vertical portion of the 7. If you compare that 7 to the 7 in the 37A on the same alternator, there is a difference.

The 7 in '837 is the one to watch out for. Many' more common '834's have been changed to '837's.

I get wary any time I see a line that goes from left to right in the area near where the adjuster bolt boss is. That can be an indication that metal and numbers were removed. Some are more pronounced, but there does seem to be a little bit of a line showing up on this one.

This appears to be the alternator in question.
