68 L89 Camaro with 28,000 miles on it. Needs complete restoration. Have known all owners of this car since 1972 - I even owned it for 3 months in 1980. Sold it to a friend, who still has it and has put maybe 100 miles on it in 25 years.

Is that the car you showed me & Tom Purdy pix of at Super Chevy Joliet in Aug. 2000?

I also know of a 68 Olds Cutlass which was an original Ram Rod 350 car. It has 6,000 original miles and when I last saw it (probably 15 or 20 years ago) it was in very good original condition. It is not in very good storage conditions, so I have no idea what kind of shape it's in now. Original motor is long gone, as the car was drag raced in the late 60's and early 70's with a BBC. Although several people have tried very hard, the car cannot be bought

The "Edsel" is making a comeback, but like all Antiques, Condition and desire dictate Value.

No, this one never sat outside. However, there is a green 1970 SS Chevelle sitting about 50 feet off the road with a tree or two growing in or around it on "Conway-Wallrose Road" in western PA. I first saw it in 1978, and at that time it was NICE . I saw it again last summer...it is not so nice now. And yes, everyone I know that has seen it over the last 27 years has tried to buy it although it may not be worth much now.

[/ QUOTE ]Barnfind, The original owner of my yenko chevelle said that he thinks that green 70 ss car is an ls6! The story is the kid died in vietnam and they threw a tarp over the car and it has not moved since! He says people have tried to buy it and they will not sell it,He said the thing is totally rotted.

This is by no means a supercar, but it will get my point across. 10-15 mi. from here there's a '71 malibu sinking into the ground, the kid was killed and his mother wouldn't sell. It is her son's car and that's that. My point is that if her son loved his car like we all seem to, how is letting it rot paying homage to his memory? Love and respect his memory by letting the car he loved make someone else happy and survive.

Some people have a hard time parting with objects whether it's a car or a book. I am part of that group. There have been some recent TV shows on this subject. I'm not as bad as those people profiled on TV but I fit the pattern. I have a lot of junk and eventual plans for it but for now it all sits.

Last summer my wife and I went through our shed, pulled out boxes of toys and clothes that our kids, ages 2 and 5 at the time, outgrew. We sold a lot of these items at a yard sale. It was hard to see the stuff go. We did keep some special items. Seeing strangers walking away with our kids' clothes and toys wasn't easy for us. I could remember certain events just by looking at the items. Birthdays, going to school, seeing the big smiles and hearing the paper tearing off things on Christmas Day, tucking them in at night in these PJs that I just sold for 50 cents........... I could go on.

The point is that we do not know the families that own these cars. We may never know the memories attached to them.
