Back to the car price question...I suspect the aging population will have more to do with prices softening over the next few years than anything else. It seems that more cars are popping up for sale lately, but very few appear to be changing hands. The same ads are run over and over again. It would be interesting to know what the distribution of ages are on sites like this. I'm 57 and suspect that the median age might even be north of that. If so, another 5 years will have a dramatic impact on the hobby.

Mark, if your buying look at it as an opportunity. Investing no so much... however just like water front property, ultra rare and iconic cars are virtually inelastic and will always be valuable.

I agree with you Steve. I've never looked at old cars and bikes as investments, but I have always thought that they would hold most of their value over my ownership. I suspect that will still be the case, or they might drop 10-20% - which isn't a big deal in the overall scheme of things. The low Canadian dollar affects my purchase timing more than anything else. Almost a $1.40 Cdn today to buy a US buck...makes shopping in the US pretty difficult!
