What was it like to drive that AMX/3? AMC should have built that thing; it is a great looking car.

----I kind of think it looks better than a GT40 (either old or new) and I love GT40s. Love the lines up and over the rear wheels........Bill S

It was actually a great driving car. Dick asked me to drive it down to Mansfield Ohio (from the Detroit area)
for a car show one time and it performed flawlessly except the AC was a little weak like a Pantera. Bill, Dick Teague like the lines over the rear as well, in fact so much that he used them on the Matador coupe. |

I believe I read somewhere that there were three of them built. But AMC brass couldn't justify production given the state of the company.

Altogether six were built (a seventh car was built from spare parts and surfaced several years after the program was cancelled). Here is a pretty good article: AMX/3

Interesting article, always been a fan of the AMX, my aunt had one when I was a kid. Never heard of the AMX/3, timelessly beautiful lines for sure, too bad it had bad timing.

![]() ![]() I think I bought that Trans Am at Pomona in the early / mid 80's Poly bushings on the suspension and a 4 speed? The car was shipped to the Detroit area and sold after a stint with a Kevin O'Keefe He had driven my 70 Z28 and wanted a car that handled as well and went as well The Z28 would blow away the T/A ... :-)
