Bergy, I don't agree with you. The bank is just selling a car that it used as collateral from a bad loan. It is up to the buyer to do their due dilligence on a 40 year old, $40,000+ dollar project car with issues. Someone who is going to drop that kind of cake is gonna do their homework or whatever negative they get is their problem.

Eddie, is there something with the car that the rest of us don't know about that the bank needs to let you know about on Monday? I thought this auction was determined by the highest bidder? Did that change? Please don't be offended, but I find it strange that you are so hard on a car that you just may end up owning after this auction. I know if I were hot on this car I would be praising it because of all of the cool aspects of it. Here are a couple of your quotes. By the way, could you post some of the pictures? <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">ill provide some info tomorrow on what i believe is the real picture of the car condition (its not pretty) etc. </div></div> <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Im sure whoever is the high bid and did not look at the car would be very very dissapointed. In fact withdrawing from the bid would be a likely scenario..... Depends on what you want to do with the car - i reconfirmed with the bank - there is no warranty book or protecto - unless the previous owner has it stuffed away somewhere. And considering the fact its been apart completely - the matching VIN's is a large risk as well. I would put the car in the mid 30's max...with alot of work and $$ if you want to restore the car back to the original...if not a race car would be a better option.</div></div>

I see your point Frank - I was just thinking that, if I was the banker, I would try to get every penny that I could to apply toward the outstanding balance on the loan. On the other hand, the outstanding balance may be covered when the bidding hits the reserve (which is all that the bank would care about). Whatever happens, somebody's gonna get a really cool car. If my gatage wasn't already full............

Bergy, I spent a decade in the car business. When a bank repop's a car they usually send it right to the auction in whatever condition it is in. No prep, no hype, just try to get whatever they can for it. Bankers are not in the car business or have any knowledge of marketing of these cars.

OK - you're probably right. No one ever accused most bankers of doing what makes business sense! By the way, I just looked at you Yenko Deuce - it's incredibly cool!!!! I was just thinking though - a whole decade in the car business - yikes!

Bergy, I will add one more thing, it is HIGHLY unusual for a bank to do what this one is doing with this car. I can only guess that the selling bank is a local community bank where these types of decisions can be made locally. Forget ever doing anything like this with one of the large national banks.

Wow, what a thread..
I understand the shark frenzie thing but wow.. beat the car up, drive price down, get it and hope the price returns.. good luck with that.. all you with a factory numbers matching, born with drivetrain in your yenko please stay seated. others exit? How many 67, 68 yenko camaro's and 69 yenko nova's can prove the engine in their car is the one don installed? Of course, even that one isn't the factory born with so they are not supercars either with this logic. I get the difference and price will reflect it but to question this cars heritage because the engine isn't there? sick! What a sweet, worthwile car (even GB? haha), I hope someone with some real balls stands up and stops playing games and provides this car the providence it deserves. good luck to all serious honest bidders. |

The fact is, even if it did turn out to be a rebody(there is no real reason to think it is),the seller is a bank. I would think they would definitely unwind the deal if something like this occured.
To me, itlooks like a great car that needs restoration and some details corrected from a prior restoration. Jason |
