That kink or upward bend was probably due to the fact glasspack mufflers that bolt up right to the collector were used---being so close to the collector it just followed the downward angle so they bent or welded the pipe on an angle------Most of the guys cut the collector flange off the muffler and installed the muffler back further .................Very

[quoteRobbie I would suggest NOT posting the letter from Joel as scammers may attempt to copy it for no good. Joel wont be around forever and we dont want to see dozens of "authenticated" cars in the future.
JMHO. [/ QUOTE ] I'll take it one more level. I would delete the posts that have the verbiage Joel uses when he "authenticates" cars. I agree that there will be guys copying this and making themselves some "letters from Mr. Rosen". Amazing that is how he authenticates a car. No "yes we did work on that VIN number" or "I have a copy of the original paperwork". I guess 2 grand doesn't get you too much!!! ![]()

I hate to be the sceptic, but it appears that you have a motion block - but not necessarily a Motion car. The pic that was posted does not look like work performed by Motion, ie; traction bars with a few inches of air between the snubber and leaf, a non-motion sticker on the window etc.. For what it's worth, my first nova looked just like the one in that pic, bars, stickers, low hanging exhaust etc... but it certainly wasn't a Motion! Joel worded his letter quite well, but only says that it was brought to the shop for mods similar to what they did at the shop! I think you need to do more digging to conclude that the car is/was a later converted Motion.

The block is matching numbers to the car and the block is a Motion block, wouldn't that make the car a Motion car? I agree more research would only help but I don't understand your last reply.

The picture is from 1983. The exhaust looks new to me. This picture may have been taken 10 or more years after it left Joel's shop. I messed around with the gap on my traction bars looking for that perfect hook on the street. I doubt the owner left this car untouched after years of street and track time. m
