Great stuff, thanks for sharing.

I would be very careful of the original oil filter. the filtering media is probably junk and can cause a serious problem. I could see why you wouldn't want to mess with it though. It is kinda shocking to see the condition of the inside of the carb. Looks like new. i was not as lucky with the fuel system on my low mile Hemi Challenger, The car had sat for some 25 years and the fuel system was polluted. I saved everything, but the tank and lines were loaded with a crystallized, smelly, brown junk that wouldn't just flush out. The attached pic shows what the inside of my tank looked like(still trying to figure out how to get the pic to show up in the post). Looks like rust, but it wasn't. If you scraped it with your finger, there was virgin metal underneath. The carbs were removed from the motor and drained so they survived unscathed.

Very cool stuff. I have had the fortunate opportunity to view many low mile survivors in my day, but your Camaro is probably one of the best if not THE best.

Thanks for the reply Charlie. Yes, the inside of the carb is amazing! I figured the gaskets would be shriveled up though. Heck, they didn't last a year back then let alone almost 40. The newer ones are much better. I'm with Mike on the oil filter & gas tank thing. I would suggest an oil and filter change if you plan on running it. If the filter comes off ok you could always spin it back on for judging. I just wouldn't run it till it was spun back off though.

Does the ignition lock cylinder have the red paint on it or bare? Great stuff Charley.
