I don't think we ever made things public about the outcome of this thread. Basically, the guy who had his name on the ownerships of the 5 ZL1 Camaros was questioned by the police. He told them that he was given money by someone to go into the licence bureau (DMV) and put these cars in his name.

Once he left the licence bureau, someone had him sign over the ownership papers and walked off with them. The individual then refused to reveal to the police who the person was that now has the signed off Ownerships (Titles). Police would not persue the case any further unless the cars are found. Even though it is possible for that person to build, register and sell these vehicles, the incident has been registered with law enforcement should they ever mysteriously re-appear.

[/ QUOTE ]
Another example that was not followed through by cops, I would think that someone that goes to register a bogus car is commiting fraud.

Having worked with cops on a few fraud cases, your statement is uncalled for. How much time and money do you suppose a police department should spend on a case where at best, the crime commited would have given the person who did this a slap on the wrist by some liberal judge? I will say this - the police did spend some time to investigating this and they have more information than what has been made public. Truth is, they are time and budget constrained and have to pick their battles accordingly.

Very well said Hylton. This is very true. Anyone can be gotten if the time and money are allocated for doing so. Alot can be said though for some police officers that will actually put forth a whole hearted effort to fully investigate a crime.

According to your logic we should stop arresting criminals because the liberal judges will set them free anyway. If police do not have the time or money to deal with this petty stuff then we can expect serial numbers to desirable Canadian documented cars to mysteriously reappear on the DMV database.

Hylton, do you KNOW these officers?
How can you say this unless you KNOW the case and or officers involved? Let's face it, if cops spent as much time chasing real criminals instead of writing speeding tickets maybe we would really be reducing crime.

Oh, and as to the comments about liberal Judges, yes I agree, I am fed up with them as well. BUT, what have the cops around here started doing? They charge/accuse someone of EVERYTHING under the book for some minor infraction. I know some poor schmuck that got into an accident where the damage was $519.00. Very minor. He asked to take some pictures with his cell phone, very nice and respectuflly (I was there) and wound up being charged with reckess op, obstructing traffic, no turn signal and on and on.

I am hearing more and more of this crap, and I for one am fed up with the cops feeling like they are "above the law".

Even here, the last time we had this discussion, several of the law enforcement personell here (or camaros.net) said that they would not ticket a "brother" LE or family member! Admitted this on a publc board. They also see nothing wrong with taking free "spiffs" from from food stores.

http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?S=7047369

It's time LE realized that they work for the people and showed a little respect for citizens. I am tired of cops pointing at Judges and Judges pointing at politicians.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When katrina hit, the legal system ground to a halt. The "system" has grown so dependant and FAT on taxes, then they OVERSPEND on MORE stuff, and fund those items with "fines", that when there were no tickets being written in the few months (and that's just a few months) when no one was here, that the legal system ground to a halt! That's just two months. No public defender money, no money for Judges to take trips for CLE, nothing. Man were they (LE, Judical, PD) screaming!
What happended next? We (the state and local officals) got "grant" money to have a 100 days of "heat" program for "public safety" to crack down on speeding.

This is no lie, God is my witness, the other day, on the INTERSTATE, I am driving to work. Like all cities, it was congested traffic. On this day, it was way slower than ever, actually only going 5mph in a 55mph zone. When I finally get up front I expect to see an accident. But no, what do I see that is holding up traffic ON THE INTERSTATE? Yep, a state trooper STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE (not on the side of the road) checking for seat belt use and brake tags (inspection stickers)!

And they are worried about MY saftey?

Meanwhile, we are the murder capitol of the USA.

IMHO..
Obviously the RSCOPO pantywaist is the criminal who falsely registered the Vins.
I am truly embarrased that the dick-head is from Canada.
I am further embarrased that he is in any way involved in the muscle car hobby to any large degree.

I wonder if the loser changed his phone number yet...someone in Ontario should check and if he has changed it and post his new number for more people to be able to call him and say hi.
How someone can have the nerve, stupidity and gall to get angry because someone points out his illegal activity, and calls him on it, is beyond comprehension, (and also by the way proves just how ignorant the joker is).

Also, If this fellow is intimately involved with, or condoned by, that Camaro parts supplier, that certainly provides ample reason not to ever consider dealing there.

Yes I have talked to the detective and I know the case. I am not arguing that there are gross inefficiencies in police departments but I believe that it is a management issue more than the ground level officers that actually do the work. The officer being paid $80k in Toronto to do radar only does what he is told.
