I agree with Frank Rick, and Belair. Now, back to the topic. Is there any folklore/speculation on YS 8042? I would guess that some sort of story (either confirmed or unconfirmed) has crossed paths with people on this site? Is there a car ou there that the owner claims it is 8042 but cannot be verified, rumors of a fiery crash, anything? I am intrigued now!

Rick...I too have done that many times in life...but there is no incentive anymore. I have talked to a couple guys who I have respect for...and had some huge laughs off line ...hell we shoot jabs and laugh offline a lot !!!

Does anyone know when the COPO option first became available in 68? Because that would be the only way to get the 140 speedo I assume. Now if this particular car is a color that was discontinued before the end of production and the COPO option didn't show up until the later stages of 68 then is there really an overlap where you could get a Grott Blue car with the COPO option? It just seems odd that Don would have ordered an RS/SS houndstooth COPO car without someone specifically requesting it.

That seems logical on how to get the 140 speedo. Except you forgot one important way......out of someone elses'car. In looking through catatlogues it seems as though the repop industry isn't making these, true or false?
Problem is, I don't think anyone knows for sure that a car like that was not specifically ordered? I am not saying that this car IS a missing Yenko....I am just trying to figure out how anyone knows it absolutely cannot be. But, honestly I guess the burden is not in disproving a car it is in proving it. So, maybe I just answered all of my own questions?

I had a Grotto Blue 68 Yenko, YS8013 so that answers your Grotto 140 speedo question.
