I own a Z that was made after your car my vin mine is 549*** . My Question is my car is also a rs z, and what is strange is my front grill was also blacked out like yours. Typically this only done on BB SS cars. However my car is the same as yours with a painted black grill.

Thanks

Welcome Dan. Please post some pictures if you can.

FYI- A rally sport grille should be black unless it was on a black car. Example

The area on the grill I am talking about is on the outer edge around the head lights. you are correct about the center being black.

The outer part of the grille was never black execpt in the case of a black car. If it was it is a sign of an unpainted replacement grille which is actually pretty common.

Darren is right about the grille. It was replaced and never painted. My car is (11D) 547 is right before yours, no X code. R/S-Z/28.
